Shopaholic to the Rescue by Sophie Kinsella

“God, real people are so disappointing. I’m sure she would have done it better in the box-set version.”

I was very surprised to find another book added to the Shopaholic series. Its obviously a narrative gold mineThis book has no real link with shopping – not as much as the previous books, anyway. This can only mean the character of Becky Brandon is at last showing to have ‘grown up’. Or maybe it’s just lazy storytelling.

This book was OK. Not great, but not bad either. The book had its share of fun moments. Ultimately, it was frothy but forgettable. I’m not sure how long they can continue the story – is this dead horse well and truly flogged? The perfect book if you need to turn your brain off for a few hours…

The plot was boring and the ‘secret’ was tedious. Avoid if possible.

MY RATING: ** / *****
