The Office BFFs by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey

“We could never have predicted the impact it would have on the rest of our lives,”

I’ve been a big fan of the Office Ladies podcast ever since it started back in the distant past of 2019, and I ended up binging The Office repeatedly during the pandemic and still to the present day. Knowing that this book existed in the world was the cherry on top of the cake.

Of course it’s a popular topic to write about and the seemingly ordinary sitcom about seemingly ordinary office workers in Scranton has endured in the 10 years since the show ended. I loved this book’s genial, colloquial tone because it felt like an extended podcast episode.

The behind the scenes photos were fun to look at and while certainly not the first tv centric book to include them, I think it adds another layer to a show that has so much narrative through at already and the background of the book detailing their respective pasts as struggling actors is a tale often told but still interesting because I think it says a lot about how people interact and engage with their media and the celebrities who inhabit it.

Most of all, I loved this book’s emphasis on female empowerment and friendship between the authors themselves but also their co-stars and the crew. Of course its not the most intellectual book in the world, but if that’s what you’re after then perhaps look elsewhere. Otherwise,I’d recommend you check this book out if you haven’t read it already.
